After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood Elves, Bilbo and the dwarves journey to Lake-town and, finally, to the Lonely Mountain, where they face the greatest danger of all: the fearsome dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch). In my review of An Unexpected Journey, I expressed the feeling that the film had expanded Tolkien’s narrative to such an extreme degree that Bilbo was lost in the shuffle, only a supporting. A dragon blows fire into the screen, what can make viewers 'jump'. Smaug tries to eat Bilbo and Thorin - The giant spiders might be very frightening, especially for viewers with arachnophobia. More dangers await them, including the skin-changer Beorn and the giant spiders of Milkwood.
